This step is considered the first after the recent diplomatic crisis between the two countries.

Via a post on Facebook, the Embassy of Germany in Rabat shared an announcement by the German Information Center stating the launch of a support program by the German government to build a plant to produce “clean fuel for the future” in Morocco, using solar energy.

According to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Morocco may, by 2030, cover from 2 to 4% of the global need for fuel sources produced from green hydrogen – known as Power-to-X products.

The ministry also indicated that the program comes within the framework of the national hydrogen strategy, and Morocco could also become an important international supplier of sustainable energy in the future, confirming that it is initially planned that the pilot plant will produce about ten thousand tons of hydrogen annually, starting from 2025.
