Maj. Gen. Andrew M. Rohling, Deputy Commanding General for Africa and U.S. Army affirmed that the “African Lion 21” military exercise represents “a great opportunity to strengthen one of the longest-established strategic relations between the United States and Morocco.”

“As we prepare to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the opening of the U.S. Legation in Tangier, the exercise fosters the close and unbroken ties between the United States and the Kingdom of Morocco, America’s oldest partner”, General Rohling said during a conference call.

It is scheduled to hold the “African Lion 21” exercise, which is one of the largest military exercises in Africa, in next June.

Thousands of soldiers from the United States, Morocco and several countries from Africa and Europe will participate in these exercises.

The “African Lion 21” military exercise program includes operations of a variety of fields, including sea and air exercises, as well as an exercise to respond to a chemical-biological threat as well as activities of a humanitarian nature.
