Bourita On Morocco-Spain Crisis: Morocco Is Not Europe’s Gatekeeper And The Solution To The Crisis Lies In Spain’s Hands

In a strong media statement to the French “LCI” channel, Foreign minister Nasser Bourita emphasized that Morocco is neither a “gendarme” nor a “gatekeeper” to the European Union, considering that the relations between the EU and Morocco have nothing to do with the recent crisis.

Bourita noted that there is no obligation on Morocco to monitor and guard the borders of other countries, but rather that its commitment concerns Moroccan borders only, stressing that the crisis with Spain is not related to the admission of a person for treatment for humanitarian reasons, but because he was permitted entry with forged papers and identity, even though he is a war criminal accused of rape, terrorism and other charges.

In this regard, Bourita stated that the solution to this crisis lies in the hands of Spain, asserting that the one who fabricated this problem is the one who must find a solution to it.
