FMs Nasser Bourita And Hassoumi Massoudou On Morocco-Niger Cooperation
The two ministers expressed their commitment to coordinate work at the level of regional and international bodies in order to promote peace, security and economic development in Africa.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held virtual talks yesterday, Monday, with the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Niger, Hassoumi Massoudou.
A communiqué issued by the ministry stated that the two ministers praised the strong partnership and cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries, thanks to the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Mohamed Bazoum, and their common desire to continue developing these relations.
In this regard, the two sides recalled the new dynamic characterizing relations between the two countries, following the two official visits by His Majesty to Niger in 2004 and 2005.
Both Bourita and Massoudou praised the results of the presidential elections that Niger witnessed on April 11, 2021, which took place in an atmosphere of calm and transparency, and known the victory of President Mohamed Bazoum.
On a different note, the two ministers expressed their commitment to coordinate work at the level of regional and international bodies in order to promote peace, security and economic development in Africa.
In this context, the Nigerian Minister affirmed his country’s support for Morocco’s candidacy for the position of Commissioner of the African Union for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.
Moreover, the two ministers agreed to strengthen South-South cooperation, through a partnership that includes training, investment, renewable energies, tourism, Islamic affairs, civil protection, transport and justice.
The two officials also stressed the need to enhance the exchange of experiences and encourage a more willing economic policy which also focuses on mobilizing the private sector.
Lastly, Bourita and Massoudou agreed to hold the next session of the Mixed Committee for Moroccan-Nigerian Cooperation in Rabat or Niamey, as soon as conditions allow.
