Mr. Nasser Bourita meets with US Secretary of State

In parallel to the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the International Military Intervention against ISIL, held on June 28th of 2021 in Rome, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, met with his American counterpart, Mr. Antony Blinken.

 

The meeting focused on the developments made in bilateral relations and some regional issues, most notably the situation in Libya and the Middle East.

 

It’s worth noting that MM. Bourita and Blinken communicated via telephone on April 30th. The call has made it possible to build a robust and long lasting strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America.

 

The American Secretary of State also praised the advance made by Morocco during the last two decades under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him. An advance that covered multiple fields and is displayed through political reforms, economic progress and social development.

 

Mr. Blinken also applauded the Sovereign’s leadership in the fight against climate change, the investment in renewable energies and the promotion of the green economy.

 

Additionally, the two officials discussed regional issues of common interest, including the situation in Libya and the Sahel. In this regard, Mr. Blinken deemed Morocco a stabilizing agent in a turbulent region.
