Washington: human rights at the heart of a meeting between the State Department and a Moroccan delegation

During a high-level Moroccan inter-agency delegation’s visit to Washington on Wednesday, the US reaffirmed its commitment to supporting King Mohammed VI’s reform agenda in several domains.

The Moroccan delegation was welcomed by the US State Department on Wednesday as part of a “permanent and long-standing discussion” between the two countries on a variety of subjects, including human rights, diplomacy said. In a press release, an American says.
According to the same source, this is the “tenth meeting of a discussion that has lasted more than a decade,” and that “Morocco is a close partner of the United States.”
In this regard, the State Department noted that Rabat and Washington “regularly” discuss a variety of issues as part of their partnership, “including how we can work together to advance HM King Mohammed VI’s reform agenda on topics like freedom of expression and association, criminal justice reforms, women’s rights and gender equality, and government transparency.”
“In this context, we seek to identify concrete and achievable reforms that we can move forward together,” the statement said.
In its interactions with all of its partners, the US stresses human rights, according to the State Department.
