Nasser Bourita meets with the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chilean Senate

On January 30, 2023, in Rabat, Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan minister of foreign affairs, African cooperation, and Moroccans living abroad, met with Jaime Quintana, the head of the Chilean Senate’s foreign affairs committee, to discuss ways to improve ties between the two nations.

The President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chilean Senate said in a statement to the press after the meeting that these “useful and important talks come in a context where relations between the two countries, characterized by mutual respect, are stable and solid.

In this context, the Chilean official stressed the interest that Morocco has in South America, but also in the African continent in general, because of its enormous qualifications in the field of economic exchanges, as well as at the political and cultural levels in a world that is increasingly globalized.

He added that the meeting was an opportunity to recall the visit that Bourita made to Chile in 2019 and the meeting that brought them together at the time, as President of the Chilean Senate, as this visit was an opportunity to strengthen ties between the two countries.

The Chilean official also reviewed developments in the preparation of the new Chilean Constitution, noting that the Moroccan Constitution of 2011 is “one of the experiences and texts that we must take into account.”

The president of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chilean Senate, who is currently on a working visit to the kingdom, is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with a number of Moroccan officials.
