Palestine: Morocco, Whose Sovereign Chairs Al Quds Committee, Reiterates Rejection of All Israeli Violations and Unilateral Actions (FM)

Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, stated Friday in Rabat that the Kingdom of Morocco, whose Sovereign HM King Mohammed VI chairs the Al Quds Committee, reiterates its rejection of all Israeli violations and unilateral actions in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a joint press conference with Swiss Federal Advisor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, who is on a working visit to Morocco, Bourita said, “The Kingdom is following with concern recent worrying developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, in a regional and international context marked by tensions.”

He continued, “The Kingdom of Morocco reiterates its disapproval of any Israeli transgressions and unilateral acts that worsen the conflict, undermine appeasement efforts, and create obstacles to the conditions necessary for resuming the regional peace process.

The Minister emphasized that “the Kingdom denounces the recent Israeli attacks on the West Bank town of Jenin, which have resulted in a number of casualties and injuries, and expresses Morocco’s total solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people.”

The latest Israeli government decision to expand settlements in the West Bank is also rejected by the Kingdom, according to Bourita, who noted with satisfaction the responses from around the world that were critical of Israel’s settlement policy.

“Morocco remains convinced that negotiations and dialogue are the only means of establishing a lasting and comprehensive peace in the region, within the framework of the two-state solution; an Israeli State and a Palestinian State, established on the June 1967 borders, with East Al Quds as its capital, living side by side in peace and security,” the Minister said.
