Climate Action: Morocco, Long-standing Leader Thanks to HM the King’s Initiatives (German FM)

As a result of HM King Mohammed VI’s initiatives, Morocco has long been a leader in the battle against climate change, according to German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who made the statement on Thursday in Berlin.

At a joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, the head of German diplomacy emphasized that Morocco has adopted the best standards in the region in the fight against climate change through its numerous initiatives and ambitious national goal to reduce CO2 emissions.

She cited, among others, the Noor solar power plant, which provides 1.3 million people with clean electrical energy, as evidence that these efforts have produced “very concrete” outcomes.

As she said that collaboration between the two nations in the area of green hydrogen was at the center of her discussions with Bourita, she also praised the alliance between Germany and the Kingdom in terms of the energy transition.

The Minister emphasized that the two nations are eager to collaborate on projects in the field of renewable energy.

In order to expand the multifaceted strategic collaboration between the two nations, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates is in Germany on a working visit this Thursday.
