According to the Polish radio station Zet, the rockets landed near a grain store in the Polish settlement of Przewodow, close to the Ukrainian border. According to Polish media, two persons were killed in the event, which did not specify the sort of missiles used.

Following the disclosure of this material, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki convened an emergency meeting of the government’s security and defense committee.

According to Piotr Müller, a spokesman for the Polish government, this conference was called “in light of the present crisis scenario.”

On Tuesday evening, Polish President Andrzej Duda spoke by phone with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who stated that “all the facts must be established.”

“Spoke with President Duda about the explosion in Poland. I offered my condolences for the loss of life. NATO is monitoring the situation, and Allies are closely consulting. Important that all facts are established,”

Extending his “condolences” for the fatalities that, according to unverified information, might be connected to a Russian missile strike. The Russian Defense Ministry has denied allegations of a Russian missile strike in Poland, calling them “provocations.”

“Statements by Polish media and officials about the supposed fall of Russian missiles near the village of Przewodów are an intentional provocation aimed at worsening the situation,” according to a ministry statement.

“No target near the border between Ukraine and Poland has been struck by Russian weapons,” the ministry said, adding that images of “debris” from the scene of the events in Przewodow “had no link with Russian weaponry.”

If the information is confirmed, Poland, a NATO member, could invoke Article 5 of the Atlantic Alliance treaty, which states that if a member state is the victim of an armed attack, the others will regard the act of violence as an armed attack directed against the entire membership and will take whatever measures are deemed necessary to support the attacked country.

“Morocco and its partners within the Visegrád Group have a strong determination to strengthen their cooperation to face common challenges, particularly in the fight against terrorism, illegal immigration and cross-border organized crime”, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, during a press conference following this meeting.

Mr. Bourita emphasized on this event the exciting prospects for collaboration between the two parties, as well as the potential for expanding it to new areas by enhancing Morocco’s potential as a gateway to the African continent and the Visegrád Group’s potential as a platform to Central and Eastern Europe.

He also emphasized Morocco’s assets as a regional stabilizing force, as well as its strong commitment to the African continent’s growth and development in order to become a “credible and responsible” partner for the V4.

“We will work tirelessly to develop triangular cooperation initiatives between the Visegrád Group and Morocco in favor of Africa,” said Mr. Bourita, It is worth emphasizing that the Kingdom and the V4 countries share the same belief about the necessity to diversify alliances in order to face the many current problems.

The official, who emphasized Morocco’s importance to partnerships with the Visegrád Group, both bilaterally and to strengthen Morocco’s partnership with the EU, expressed hope that the two sides’ shared desire to strengthen cooperation relations translate into “concrete initiatives and programs in the service of our common interests.”

The Foreign Ministers of the Visegrád Group member countries, for their part, welcomed the inaugural “V4 + Morocco” ministerial meeting, emphasizing the importance of continuing and strengthening this robust, significant, and enriching discussion through operational channels.

They were also unanimous in their gratitude for Morocco’s role as a supplier of peace and stability in the region, as well as its significant efforts in the areas of security and counter-terrorism.

The V4 ministers also emphasized Morocco’s critical role in combating illicit immigration.

In this regard, they emphasized the importance of the European Union providing additional assistance to the Kingdom in terms of border control as well as boosting its capacities in the fight against irregular immigration.

The foreign ministers of the V4 countries also lauded HM King Mohammed VI’s leadership and dedication to promoting the ideals of peace, stability, and coexistence.

They underlined the Visegrád Group’s commitment to protecting Morocco’s interests within the EU, expressing their dedication to Morocco’s status as a key partner of the European Union.

The V4 Ministers also stated that the European Union must provide direct and meaningful assistance to Morocco in its development efforts, repeating their support for the EU Council’s application to the CJEU to rescind the European Court’s judgements on agriculture and fisheries agreements with Morocco.

The Visegrád Group (V4), which has succeeded in establishing itself as a significant coalition inside the EU, occasionally broadens its work to other partners through so-called “V4 Plus” formats, depending on the Group’s presidency’s European and international goals.

The Hungarian presidency of the Visegrád Group for the term 2021-2022 prioritizes expanding cooperation with Morocco as well as the successful implementation of ongoing cooperative projects with the Kingdom.

The Moroccan ambassador took this opportunity to highlight the investment potential and business opportunities offered by the Kingdom, which has become a real hub for the African market.

In this context, Atmoun said that the southern provinces of the Kingdom have become an investment zone par excellence, thanks to their many fiscal and geographic advantages.

The Polish delegation, which has expressed its interest in investing in Morocco, promised to make a prospecting visit to the Kingdom in the near future.

According to the Embassy statement, Zamet Głowno and Chimide Polska also specialize in building field hospitals; they have jointly implemented more than 2,500 projects and are cooperating with the Polish Ministry of National Defense, the Land Forces Command, the Navy and the State Fire Service of Poland.

During a working session Wednesday 13 January in Warsaw with the Ambassador of Morocco in Poland, Abderrahim Atmoun, several Polish operators expressed their wish to visit and invest in the southern provinces in a declaration signed on this occasion.

They also expressed their admiration for Morocco’s strategy for economic development, particularly at the regional level.

During this meeting, Atmoun presented the investment opportunities in the southern provinces of the Kingdom which have become an investment area par excellence thanks to their multiple tax and geographical advantages.

He also exposed the economic strengths of the Kingdom as a safe destination for investments and the gateway par excellence to Africa for Polish investors.

Atmoun further stressed that the Free Trade Agreements signed by Morocco with African countries make the Kingdom not only a relay point between Europe and Africa, but also a land for investment that offers attractive benefits to companies around the world.

On this occasion, Atmoun assured his interlocutors of the entire disposition of the Embassy of Morocco in Poland to provide the necessary support to any Polish company wishing to invest in the Kingdom, to support investors in their steps to settle in Morocco and thus facilitate contacts with all the concerned Moroccan partners.

The meeting was attended by Zbigniew Szkopek, Chairman of the Management Board of the company ALUMAST, specializing in the production of composite load-bearing structures: electricity, lighting and telecommunications poles, Piotr Gapanowicz, vice-president of the company EV Charge (Construction electric car charging infrastructure), Tomasz Gutkowski, member of the Supervisory Board of KZWM Ogniochron, a company specializing in the manufacture of firefighting equipment and materials.
