On her part, Lalla Joumala Alaoui, Morocco’s Ambassador to the US handed Trump the Order of Muhammad, an award given only to heads of state as a gift from His Majesty, King of Morocco, Mohammed VI.

According to sources from Reuters, White House senior adviser Jared Kushner and Middle East envoy Avi Berkowitz both received other awards for their work on the Israel-Morocco deal of last December.

The issue of the Moroccan Sahara witnesses rapid progress following the numerous recognitions and support by world leaders.

In his co-chaired ministerial conference held on the same day, Moroccan foreign minister, Nasser Bourita urged world representatives of over 40 countries to take practical steps into applying the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative and that it is time to take action.

Many representatives have expressed their conviction that the Autonomy Initiative remains the only credible and realistic solution for the long disputed issue of the Moroccan Sahara.
