His Majesty King Mohammed VI Orders The Return Of All “Illegal” Moroccan Minors From Europe

His Majesty ordered the return of all unaccompanied Moroccan minors from EU countries to Morocco.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI gave instructions to the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs to settle the status of Moroccan minors who are currently in Europe.

According to a communiqué issued by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the Interior, the King repeatedly affirmed the clear and firm commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco to accept the return of unaccompanied minors who have been duly identified.

The joint ministerial communiqué added that cooperation mechanisms have been established for this purpose with some countries, especially France and Spain, which led to the return of dozens of minors to Morocco.

The same source explained that the delays observed in implementing this cooperation are mainly related to obstacles due to complexity of procedures in some European countries.

The communiqué stressed that Morocco is ready to cooperate, as it has always done, with European countries and the European Union to settle this issue.

Morocco also hopes that the European Union and the countries in question would be able to avoid procedural restrictions in order to facilitate the process of returning Moroccan minors.

Morocco regrets, once again, the use of the issue of immigration, including the issue of unaccompanied minors, as a pretext to circumvent the real causes of the current political crisis with Spain.

The communiqué concluded that the Moroccan authorities maintain the right to provide appropriate responses to the unfounded accusations of the Spanish government in a timely manner.
