Fisheries agreement with Morocco: EU tribunal delivers judgment on appeal for annulment of European Council decisions

EU tribunal decides on appeal for the cancellation of European Council decisions in the fisheries agreement with Morocco.

On Wednesday, the European Union’s Court of Justice handed down its verdict in the case of an appeal against the European Council’s decisions on agricultural and fisheries accords with Morocco.
The tribunal annuls these decisions “while keeping their consequences for a period of time in order to maintain the European Union’s external action and the legal certainty of its international commitments,” according to the tribunal’s news statement.
The effects of the two agreements are maintained, according to the same source, “because their immediate cancellation is likely to have serious consequences on the European Union’s external action and to call into question the legal certainty of the international commitments to which it is committed.”
