Ait Taleb announces the registration of 76 Omicron cases and the entry of the first case of the new mutant into the recovery room

Khalid Ait Taleb, Minister of Health and Social Protection, revealed 76 more cases identified by the latest “Omicron” mutant of the Sars-Cov-2 virus since the first detection on Wednesday, 15 December 2021, showing 246 suspected instances of the new mutant.
On Tuesday evening, 28 December, Khalid Ait Taleb, a guest on Al Oula Channel, revealed that the first case of the new mutant “Omicron” in Morocco had arrived in the recovery room, a case of a woman who had been delayed from receiving the third enhanced dose of the Covid-19 vaccine despite having exceeded her time limit.
According to the Minister of Health and Social Protection, the large number of cases reported with the new corona virus posed a threat to the epidemiological situation, which had improved in Morocco in recent weeks. The spread of the Omicron mutant fueled fears of an epidemic resurgence, especially as the mutant remained five times quicker than the delta mutant.
According to the Minister, the prevalent misconception that Omicron is less dead than Delta omits an essential fact, which is evident in its quick proliferation among individuals, putting people’s health in jeopardy.
The enormous number of people meetings and urban overpopulation in the cities of Casablanca and Rabat, according to Khalid Ait Taleb, provide good ground for the propagation of the new mutant.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection called for the rapid and widespread participation of female citizens and citizens of all ages in the national vaccination campaign, extending the third dose to those who received a text message indicating that their vaccination had expired, and adhering to the individual and collective preventive measures of wearing the muzzle properly, repeatedly washing or sterilizing the hands with alcoholic disinfectants, physical dispersion, and a public awareness campaign.
