World Cup: Morocco To face Spain in round of 16

After a thrilling win yesterday against Canada, Morocco will face Spain in the Qatar World Cup in round of 16.

Spain advanced to the round of 16 despite yesterday’s 2-1 loss to Japan because they took second place in their group.

Alvaro Morata gave Spain the lead early in the game, but the Blue Samurais fought back in the second half, scoring twice in as many minutes thanks to Ritsu Doan and Ao Tanaka.

Morocco defeated Canada 2-1 to clinch their passage to the knockout rounds. The Atlas Lions will compete in the round of 16 for the first time since 1986.

Following the game, Moroccans from all around the country and the world went out to the streets to celebrate, honking their cars, waving Moroccan flags, singing and dancing together.

Walid Regragui, the head coach of Morocco, praised his side’s opponents, the Canadian squad, and claimed that the supporters needed and deserved the victory.

In the Round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup, on December 6 (at 16:00 PM GMT+1), Spain will meet Morocco. Spain finished second in Group E, while Morocco topped Group F.
