Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan FM, spoke by phone on Friday with Lord Ahmad Tariq, the British minister of state for foreign and Commonwealth affairs for South and Central Asia, North Africa, the United Nations, and the Commonwealth.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, the two ministers discussed the positive developments in relations between Morocco and the United Kingdom within the framework of the bilateral strategic partnership, particularly with the holding of the Morocco-UK Association Council in Rabat on February 16.

The two officials also discussed a variety of global and regional issues of mutual interest.

The same source continued, stating that the FM Mr. Bourita expressed the Kingdom of Morocco’s rejection of the Israeli government’s decision to intensify and legalize settlements, as well as all unilateral actions that jeopardize the prospects for peace. In this context, they discussed the development of the Middle East situation and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He also expressed Morocco’s concern about how they might affect regional security and stability.

The statement continued, “The minister also recalled the factors that have shaped the Kingdom of Morocco’s consistent position, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to the two-state solution, as agreed upon at the international level.
