Syrian president is in the UAE on an official visit

After the terrible earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria last month, Syrian President Bashar Assad made his first trip to the affluent Gulf state of the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

According to Assad’s office, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed Assad, who traveled with his wife Asma and a team of Syrian officials.

The two “had good conversations aimed at improving relations between our two nations,” Sheikh Mohammed claimed in a tweet.
