On its route from the Congo to Morocco, a jet carrying the WAC football team was forced to stop in Libreville, the capital of Gabon, due to a mechanical issue.

In the fifth round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League, WAC faced up against Vita Club in Congo.

According to Hesport’s sources, the pilot had to make an emergency landing at Libreville Airport.

According to the same sources, the team will depart Libreville for Casablanca Airport on Sunday after rerouting the malfunctioning aircraft.

According to the Gabonese Presidency, Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, was present when Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of the Republic of Gabon, received him in audience yesterday, Thursday, November 17, 2022 in Libreville. He was carrying a letter from King Mohammed VI.

The conversations between Younes Sekkouri and the head of state of Gabon, which took place in front of Abdellah Sbihi, the Moroccan ambassador to Gabon, “focused on the relations of friendship and brotherhood that bind the two leaders and their respective nations,” according to the Gabonese presidency on its official website. In the news release, it was stated that Ali Bongo and Sekkouri “discussed different bilateral concerns between the two countries.”

On this occasion, the Moroccan minister informed the President of the Republic of Gabon of the commitment of Morocco to share its experience in all sectors of activity requested by Gabon, the press release said.

“This is in particular the case of areas relating to youth, professional qualification, digital, SMEs-SMIs, and many others, in which Morocco has proven expertise,” says the Presidency of Gabon.

Gabon aims to hold a series of events in Laayoune to bolster its presence in this region of Morocco’s territory, according to Gabonese Foreign Minister Pacôme Moubelet Boubeya, who made the announcement Friday in Rabat.

The Gabonese Republic confirms its solidarity for the Moroccanness of the Sahara through the organization of these events, said the Gabonese top diplomat during a press conference following talks with Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

He also expressed gratitude to the Kingdom for assisting Gabon in the organization of a cultural day in Laâyoune, which he described as a huge success.

Mr. Boubeya further stated that his country remains committed to the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.

Late September, the Gabonese embassy in Rabat chose the city of Laayoune to commemorate the 61st anniversary of the independence of this friendly African country, which opened a consulate general in the Moroccan Sahara capital in January 2020.

For this occasion, dubbed “Gabon in Laayoune,” a rich program has been planned, including artistic performances reflecting Gabonese cultural heritage, an exhibition of Gabonese items, donations of school supplies, and visits to numerous Laayoune enterprises.
