It underscores its pivotal role in the broader international security framework.

Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, the President of Interpol, emphasized the organization’s numerous accomplishments during the opening ceremony, citing numerous operations resulting in the apprehension of criminals, rescue of children, and confiscation of weapons, drugs, and illicit goods since its inception.

Expressing pride in these achievements, he emphasized the collective responsibility to ensure that no country or region is left behind in the ongoing battle against crime.

Austrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer, speaking on the organization’s centenary, highlighted the opportunity to embark on a new chapter in the fight against international organized crime. He noted the significant progress made since Interpol’s establishment in 1923 when it began with 20 countries and has now evolved into a global force.

Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock underscored the organization’s commitment to leveraging a century of experience to equip member countries to confront the evolving challenges in police action over the next 100 years and beyond. In an editorial, he emphasized the need for a global response to the security crisis posed by transnational organized crime.

The foundation of the International Criminal Police Commission, later named INTERPOL, took place in 1923 during a police congress in Vienna, Austria, bringing together representatives from 20 countries. Established in a post-war context of geopolitical upheaval and concerns about rising international crime, the congress affirmed that collaboration was essential for police to combat transnational crime threats. Convened by police officials, the Vienna Congress established the foundational principles guiding INTERPOL’s work today: a focus on practical tools for cross-border law enforcement and a commitment to neutrality, principles that persist through periods of political or economic tension.

Following their outstanding performance at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, which ended in the team’s selection to the last four of the largest football tournament in the world.

Implementing royal instructions issued by the Ministry of Royal Palaces, Ceremonies, and Protocols are the security preparations.

On this occasion, Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and National Territory Surveillance, conducted a field visit to review the security and safety procedures intended to secure this significant event in the Capital, joined by senior officials of the General Directorate of National Security.

The authorities looked through the numerous police formations and security measures that would be used to protect this enormously popular event.

More than 8,000 police and public forces will be involved in the safety and security protocol created by Rabat security officers to secure the roadsides and streets that the Moroccan national team bus will travel on and to protect the safety of locals.

Security forces in Sale and Rabat have employed mobile patrols from various police units, including teams of horses, riders, and trained police dogs, as well as regular security groups with a focus on protecting important rallies and events.

The security interests also started setting up separate security control stations early on Tuesday morning in the perimeter of the numerous corridors and alleyways leading to the main streets, which the convoy of the national team would pass through.

This is done to maintain regular traffic, avoid crowding and traffic hindrance, and to protect the safety of the residents who will gather to celebrate the national football team’s accomplishments.

From the national team’s arrival at Rabat-Sale Airport at 5 p.m. today until its arrival at the Royal Palace, these national celebrations are expected to draw a sizable crowd along the route that the team’s convoy travels. for the royal event honoring and celebrating this significant historical accomplishment.

According to Morocco Telegraph sources, Abdellatif Hammouchi held working sessions and had lengthy discussions with his counterparts in the Spanish security and intelligence services. These discussions covered a variety of security issues of interest to both parties as well as mechanisms to support and develop bilateral cooperation.

The visit by Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit to the northern neighbor last Wednesday, or June 15, when he met with his Spanish counterpart Fernando Grande Marlasca, complements Hammouchi’s visit to the Kingdom of Spain. During their discussions, they covered a wide range of security-related topics as well as bilateral cooperation in a number of different areas. Including the struggle against terrorism and illegal immigration.

It is noteworthy that recent advancements in international security cooperation have given Morocco a prominent role at the regional and global levels, positioning the Kingdom of Morocco as a crucial collaborator in achieving global security and stability. Many European security officials traveled to Morocco in the last month, either to strengthen security cooperation, as was the case with the Director General of the German Federal Police, or to reach goodwill agreements, as was the case with the governor of the Lowland Police.

Abdellatif Hammouchi, the director general of national security and territorial surveillance, also traveled to many other nations as part of security cooperation agreements, including Qatar, which offered to use Morocco’s World Cup preparations as a model; the United States, where he met with top intelligence and security officials; and Spain. This is the southern entrance to the Schengen area of Europe.

This visit is part of the security services’ openness to their surroundings, as well as the security apparatus’s transparency policy, the work and achievements of which have become particularly internationally recognized in the fight against terrorism.
Thus, 20 diplomats from around the world, some accompanied by mediator judges and counter-terrorism officials, were given the opportunity to learn about the BCIJ’s various activities and role in combating terrorism and organized crime and drying up their sources.
Morocco’s progress in combating terrorism and organized crime, as well as the importance of Morocco’s security cooperation with the rest of the world, were highlighted on that occasion.
The diplomatic institution led a delegation of ambassadors to meet with the Centre’s Director, Mr. Cherkaoui Habboub. Various interventions in this context focused on security issues in various parts of the world, particularly the Sahel region, emphasizing the need to strengthen cooperation in the fight against terrorism, particularly in this African region.
It should be noted that Moroccan security agencies have the necessary strength and capacity not only to ensure and maintain the security of cans, but also to cooperate with other countries in the field of security.
Several terrorist cells in foreign countries have been dismantled thanks to Moroccan security agencies’ cooperation, which is carried out in accordance with international conventions and treaties to which Morocco is fully committed.
Mr. Cherkaoui Habboub was presented with a memorial shield and a letter of thanks from the Foundation in recognition of Morocco’s efforts in the security field by Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of National Security and the Directorate-General of Territorial Surveillance.
