This charge was made shortly after a shocking episode of child rape in Morocco that inspired a powerful condemnation movement.

This “tragic” story, which is currently being looked into by the Moroccan legal system, was first made public by the Federation of Women’s Rights League (FWRL) of Morocco.

The French teacher at the private school is accused of raping four of his underage female students and is also suspected of human trafficking, along with another person who is accused of operating “a brothel.”

After a complaint was filed, the case’s court hearing was postponed until May 4 so that the accused may prepare his defense.

The FWRL emphasizes in its statement on the case that “the atrocious acts fall under human trafficking crimes because it takes advantage of the victims’ vulnerability,” given that they are legally minors, as well as the power relations that exist between a teacher and his underage students.

The Federation emphasizes that it is important to take into account the teacher’s power and influence inside the institution, which contributes to his desire to hurt the physical and mental integrity of his female students by abusing them in ways that lower their dignity.

The federation asserted that “we demand protection for girls and women victims of violence, as one of the fundamental rights under the Constitution and international law,” and pledged to provide the victims and their families with both legal and emotional help.

The FWRL further emphasized the necessity for the government to commit to caring for these victims who were minors and to support them throughout the legal process.

In its statement, the federation called for “the preservation of the victims’ privacy” as the case is heard by the first instance criminal chamber of the Casablanca Court of Appeals.

Following a month of demonstrations and public fury over “an unjust, lenient” decision given in another horrifying case, heartbreaking news of yet another child rape case has emerged.

The father of the kid’s child and her rapists received only two years in prison for their torture and crimes. S was an 11-year-old victim of repeated rape by three men.

Following the fury of Moroccans, NGOs’ campaigns, and extraordinary media attention, the Rabat Court of Appeals granted the victim justice by handing down penalties of 10 years for the rapists and 20 years for the rapist who caused the pregnancy.

In order to protest the verdict and demand justice for the young victim, a number of groups that strive to safeguard women and children, as well as NGO leaders and locals, assembled in front of the court in Hay Riad.

A substantial number of participants and protestors showed there to voice their indignation at the decision.

The Spring of Dignity coalition and a number of organizations have closely followed the case. The offenders, who frequently molested the girl for eight months and caused her to become pregnant, received a sentence of just two years in prison, which is much less severe than what the Moroccan penal law calls for.

According to Latifa Bouchoua, the former president of the Federal Women’s Rights League, “we as a coalition oppose these sentences and are here to convey our discomfort with the plight of the children and women,”

According to Bouchoua, these sanctions do not equal the cruelty of “the collective and continual rape of the child.”

The former president added, “This is one case of many that occurs in our country; we routinely experience incidents like this that don’t generally make it to the public.”

The former president of the Federal League for Women’s Rights expressed her concern for the kids and their families and requested that the Moroccan court system respond with justice and support for rape and abuse victims.

The rally was organized by the coalition to oppose the court’s verdicts and punishments, which, according to the activist, “do not appropriately reflect the gravity of Morocco’s problem with pedophilia and the sexual exploitation of children and women.”

Also present at the rally was Khaoula Assebab, president of Jossour Forum Les Femmes Marocaine, who made a point of saying that they will “continue support for the young girl raped by three adults.”

The militant claims that the victims are not helped by the “unfair sentencing to the big offense.”

The spokesperson of the NGO argued that “tight rules and serious verdicts in such situations must be imposed,” adding that “this worsens the situation for women and children in Morocco and makes the victims hesitant to seek justice.”

Yassmine Chami, a Moroccan author, started the petition and called the punishment a “despicable” decision.

The petition states that the petitioners are “outraged by the terrible ruling, which convicts criminals who raped one of our eleven-year-old children to merely two years in prison.”

The appeal stated that the raped woman gave birth to her first child at the young age of twelve after experiencing continuous rape and sexual assault.

The petition also demanded the reconsideration of the case in order to change the punishment imposed on the offenders, as well as the creation of an observatory or independent system to report any flaws discovered during cases involving violence against women and children.

The petition expresses outrage and growing concerns over the low punishment imposed by the criminal division of the Rabat Appeals Court, which on March 20 sentenced three males involved in repeated rape against a juvenile to two years in prison.

At the time of writing, the petition had gathered more than 11,000 signatures.

The lenient punishment was criticized by citizens, activists, and organizations as “unfair.”

According to the Moroccan organization Jossour Forum for Moroccan Women, the victim was given an unfair verdict.

Soumaya Naamane Guessour, a sociologist and university lecturer, wrote an open letter to Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi last week to protest the “unbearable leniency of the punishment.”

The court’s “incomprehensible normalization” of a culture of rape and impunity was also denounced by the sociologist.
Commenting on the decision, Ouahbi expressed his disbelief.

According to Ouahbi, who was mentioned in local media, “The rape case of the child struck us all and made us wonder, as a society, whatever steps should we reinforce and adopt, on a statutory, intellectual, and educational level, to safeguard children from rape.”

Despite the complaints and commotion, the court hasn’t made any statements or decided to change the ruling.
In order to protest the low sentence, the Moroccan organization Spring of Dignity scheduled a sit-in on Wednesday, April 5.
