Bilal El Khannouss: The Moroccan international wins the Belgian “Hope of the Year” award

The gifted Moroccan midfielder defeated AC Milan’s Charles De Ketelaere, who was ranked second, with 355 points.

The 69th Golden Boot Gala, which honors the top players in the Belgian Football championship, was held on Wednesday evening in Antwerp. Bilal El Khannouss, a Moroccan international player for Racing Genk, was given the Hope of the Year award.

This season, El Khannouss, 18, has made his public debut in Racing Genk’s midfield. The young midfielder has participated in 18 of the league’s 20 games so far this year and has been an important player for Limburg. With 55 points from 21 games and only two losses, Genk is in first place in the Pro League.

El Khannouss was part of the Atlas Lions selection for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Where Morocco finished in 4th place.

Since 1954, the best players in the Belgian football league have received the Golden Boot award, which is presented by the Flemish daily newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws. There are 35 voting rounds total, with 17 taking place in July following the end of the season and 8 in December. The votes are counted in January, and the winner is revealed on television that evening.
