The President of the United Arab Emirates appoints his eldest son as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyane, the president of the United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday 29 March appointed his eldest son, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed, as the crown prince of Abu Dhabi.

The president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyane, appointed Wednesday his eldest son Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed crown prince of Abu Dhabi, the richest of the seven emirates of the federation, announced Wednesday the state media.

The ruler of Abu Dhabi has traditionally been the federation’s president since it was founded in 1971. As a result, the new crown prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed is expected to become the next ruler of the Emirates.

The UAE president has also appointed Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyane as vice president of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyane, vice president of the Council of Ministers, minister of the presidential cabinet, as vice president of the state, the statement added.

The appointment of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyane was approved by the Federal Supreme Council.
