Dakar Salutes King’s “Humanitarian” Pardon
Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye praised King Mohammed VI’s royal pardon for Senegalese supporters detained in Morocco. Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs welcomed King Mohammed VI’s decision to grant a royal pardon to Senegalese supporters detained in Morocco following incidents during the AFCON 2025 final in Rabat.
In a statement issued in Dakar, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye praised the King’s decision as “a gesture of great magnanimity and high humanitarian value”.
The ministry said the royal pardon reflects the strong brotherly relations between Morocco and Senegal and praised the spirit of dialogue and cooperation that marked exchanges between authorities in both countries.
Senegal also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening longstanding ties of friendship, solidarity, and strategic partnership with Morocco.
