Morocco-Ghana: Examining Ways to Promote Trade Exchanges
Exploring avenues for economic and industrial complementarity and promoting the volume of trade exchanges were the focus of talks, Monday in Rabat, between the Moroccan State Secretary for Foreign Trade, Omar Hejira, and the Ghanaian Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare.
In this regard, the Moroccan official highlighted the role of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), describing it as a promising space offering major opportunities to increase intra-African trade.
Hejira specified that this visit is part of the vision of King Mohammed VI aimed at consolidating South-South cooperation and promoting inter-African economic integration.
For her part, the Ghanaian minister indicated that her visit to Morocco comes as a continuation of the bilateral meetings recently held on the sidelines of a World Trade Organization (WTO) meeting in Cameroon, thus reflecting the strong will to deepen relations between Morocco and Ghana.
“Although our relations already involve established cooperation in the fields of agribusiness and investment, it is now timely to take them to a higher level”, she said, stressing that “Morocco has all the assets to establish itself as a leading partner in this new phase of Ghana’s development”. The Ghanaian official’s working visit to Morocco, which continues until May 6, will be marked by a series of talks with several government members and private sector representatives.
