Princess Lalla Meryem Receives Al-Quds Children in Rabat
Princess Lalla Meryem receives Al-Quds children taking part in Morocco’s summer camps. On the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem received on Sunday at the Royal Guest Palace in Rabat the Al-Quds children participating in the 17th edition of the summer camps organized by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency.
Held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, the initiative reflects the Sovereign’s support for the Holy City and its inhabitants.
The initiative also forms part of the actions undertaken by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency to support Al-Quds and its inhabitants through projects benefiting women, children and people facing difficult circumstances.
Entitled “Manarat Assalam” (Lighthouse of Peace), this year’s edition runs from August 12 to 26 and benefits 50 children from Al-Quds, girls and boys aged between 11 and 14, accompanied by five supervisors from the Holy City.
The program included the second session of the Summer School in Skhirat, followed by educational trips, artistic competitions, sporting events and cultural visits alongside Moroccan children.
A Program Built Around Exchange
Upon her arrival, Princess Lalla Meryem was greeted by Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, Managing Director of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, as well as by the supervisors and participating children.
Her Royal Highness then posed for a commemorative photograph before presiding over a reception hosted by King Mohammed VI in honor of the children.
The Al-Quds children presented commemorative gifts to Princess Lalla Meryem, while Echarkaoui presented her with a commemorative book documenting the 17 editions of the summer camps organized by the Agency since 2008.
According to the Agency, the previous editions benefited a total of 850 children from different neighborhoods of the Holy City, accompanied by 85 supervisors.
Through these visits, the children have been able to discover different regions of Morocco and witness the strength of Moroccans’ active solidarity with the Palestinian people.
