Rabat Court Convicts YouTuber in Defamation Case Involving Prince Hicham
Morocco’s Prince Moulay Hicham A court in Rabat has convicted Moroccan YouTuber Mohamed Reda Taoujni of defamation against Prince Moulay Hicham over a video published on YouTube.
The court imposed a fine of 100,000 dirhams and ordered the removal of the content deemed defamatory. It also required the publication of the ruling in accordance with legal procedures.
In addition, the court awarded 600,000 dirhams in civil damages to Prince Hicham.
The case relates to a video in which the defendant made allegations involving large financial transfers, which the complainant said were harmful to his reputation.
Prince Hicham filed the complaint through his legal counsel, which stated that it supports freedom of expression within the framework of the law, and requested a financial penalty without a custodial sentence.
The case is expected to proceed to the Court of Appeal.
