293 Moroccans had come from Sudan on Wednesday in two separate planes operated by RAM, each carrying 136 and 157 passengers.

According to His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s High Instructions, Moroccan nationals are being evacuated from Sudan to ensure that they are returned in the best possible circumstances.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify Him, has given His High Instructions to ensure the repatriation of Moroccan nationals from this country, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates on Monday. This was in response to “recent events in the Republic of Sudan and the deterioration of the security situation in this brotherly country.”

According to the High Royal Instructions, the Kingdom of Morocco’s embassy in Sudan organized a land caravan from the capital Khartoum to the city of Port-Sudan in a first phase, benefiting more than 200 Moroccan citizens who were living in Sudan or whose presence here coincided with this challenging domestic situation, said the ministry, adding that this land caravan arrived this Monday evening safely in the city of Port-Sudan.

Morocco will not take part in the African Championship for home-grown athletes (CHAN 2023) that will take place in Algeria from January 13 to February 4. The federal organization posted a press release on its website on Thursday, making the decision official.

The Moroccan national football team is unable to travel to Constantine, Algeria, to compete in the 7th edition of the African Championship of Nations of Football, which will be held there from January 13 to February 4, 2023 (CHAN 2002), and defend its title because the flight of Royal Air Maroc (RAM), the team’s official air carrier, from Rabat to Constantine has not yet received official authorization.

Following its request for authorization of a RAM flight from Rabat to Constantine, the FRMF was informed on December 22, 2022 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), as the body in charge of the organization of the CHAN 2022, that an authorization in principle had been obtained.

Based on this preliminary approval, the FRMF shared the Moroccan Selection’s flight details and coordinates in order to secure the final approval of the RAM flight from Rabat to Constantine. The Moroccan Selection’s participation in the CHAN 2022 was also continued, including the preparation training course that will take place at the Mohammed VI Complex of Football in Salé from January 6 to January 10, 2023.

While the FRMF is in charge of organizing the Moroccan Selection’s trip from Rabat to Constantine and the start of the CHAN 2022 is set for January 13, 2023, or in less than 24 hours, the FRMF regrets that the CAF has not yet officially authorized the RAM flight from Rabat to Constantine.

The royal plan shared via Twitter stated that the Moroccan Ministry of Health will undertake laboratory tests for all travelers upon their arrival directly at Moroccan airports.

Yesterday, Moroccan authorities decided to suspend flights to and from France and Spain, due to the outbreak of Covid-19 and the mutated strains.

Government sources confirmed that the decision to suspend flights includes all commercial aviation companies, and will take effect from today, Tuesday, March 30th.

It is reported that Morocco has suspended flights with 37 countries due to the continuing repercussions of the virus, and for fear of mutated strains infiltrating the country.

In a related context, the government decided to extend precautionary measures that were approved on January 13th, 2021, for an additional two weeks, starting on Tuesday, March 30th, 2021, at 9 P.M.

A government communiqué stated that this decision follows the recommendations of the Scientific and Technical Committee in charge of developing the national strategy for vaccination against “SARS-Cov-2″on the necessity to continue the necessary measures to confront the outbreak of Covid-19.

This decision came as a result of the development of this epidemic at the global level, with the emergence of new strains, and within the framework of continuous efforts to contain the spread of the pandemic and limit its negative repercussions.

Royal Air Maroc said in a statement that it would make, for the first time in its history, a direct link between Dakhla and Europe (except Canary Islands) through a four and a half hour flight to Paris. RAM mentions that it is managing two flights a week for its clients (Tuesday and Friday). It will schedule flights from Paris at 9:45 a.m., arriving in Dakhla at 2:25 p.m. It also schedules flights from Dakhla at 3:25p.m., arriving in Paris at 7:45 p.m.

According to the same source, the Moroccan National Tourist Office chose to activate this line with the national company to contribute to this important tourist destination. “RAM, as a national company, is making sure to keep pace with the advancement of national tourism, especially during the crisis,” said Hamid Ado, general manager of Royal Air Maroc.

He added: “therefore, it was necessary to strengthen our mobilization with the Moroccan National Tourist Office to promote this strategic sector of our country. In addition, this new line will enable Dakhla’s visitors to benefit from the experience of traveling to Morocco from Boarding in Paris.”

The verdict was delivered on November 25 thus bringing the RAM-AMPL case to an end.

The verdict comes after Royal Air Maroc had put forth a request on September 14. The request, which demanded the dissolution of the AMPL, was supported by the prosecution which went further as to demand the nullity of all the conventions signed between the association and the national company.

The conflict had exacerbated between the association and the company when the latter decided to lay off 140 of its employees as a result of the severe ramifications of Covid-19. The association turned to the justice system demanding that the employees be rehired expressing their consent to reduce their salaries.

As for Royal Air Maroc, the association does not possess the legal status that would allow it to represent or negotiate on behalf of the employees. The company emphasised that AMPL overstepped the parameters of the arena of its competence which is social work.

Health authorities in Laayoune prohibited Separatist Aminatou Haidar from boarding the Royal Air Maroc (RAM) flight to Las Palmas. This evening, November 18th.

Passenger Aminatou Haidar was COVID-19 positive, stated the communiqué by Authorities at Hassan I Airport in Laayoune, Southern Morocco. This was confirmed by a document issued by the Ministry of Health, and exclusively shared with Morocco Telegram.

In addition to that, reliable sources indicated that health authorities in Laayoune informed the person in question of their decision to prevent her from traveling until ensuring her full recovery.

As a response, Aminatou posted a video of herself claiming that this prohibition is illegal, adding that Spanish territory does not require any tests to enter; a decision which will remain applicable until November 23rd.

And following the dissemination of false information regarding the incident. The RAM stated that in accordance with the state of health emergency protocol. Health authorities have seized the National Company in Laayoune to report a COVID-19 case. Authorities have therefore prevented the passenger from boarding flight AT1418 from Laayoune to Las Palmas on Wednesday, November 18th.

Covid-19 Health Emergency State

It should also be recalled that in accordance with Royal Air Maroc procedures and those of almost all airlines, COVID-19 positive people cannot board a flight in order to protect other passengers from the risk of contamination. Moreover, it is useful to remember, people infected with Covid-19 must follow a strict 14-day confinement. They should also avoid all types of contact with others.

It’s worth noting that the Kingdom of Morocco has set strict measures to deal with the spread of Covid-19 within the different Moroccan regions. The country is still on a prolonged health emergency state as the infection numbers are still plummeting among Moroccans.
