Covid-19: Morocco Succeeds in Vaccination Campaign and Receives French Praise

According to Antoine Flahaut, France should perhaps take inspiration from a country accustomed to organizing such campaigns like Morocco.

The French news outlet “Ouest France” wrote, today, Thursday, that Morocco has succeeded in its vaccination campaign against the “Covid-19” pandemic and has become admired, as it made a comparison between the rapid implementation of the vaccination campaign in the Kingdom and the “slow” prevalence in France.

According to the news outlet, “while the French vaccination campaign has accelerated markedly in recent weeks, this has not yet enabled it to catch up with countries like the United States or the United Kingdom.”

Ouest France, which tried, through an analysis entitled “Vaccination against Covid-19… Why France is late?” indicated that France had given, until March 8th, 8 doses, to 100 people, bearing in mind that most vaccines require two doses for each. This number exceeds the world average (4.1), but it is lower than the average recorded by Italy (9.56), Germany (9.74), and Spain (10.37). The difference is even greater when we compare the progress of developed countries outside the European Union, such as the United States (28.01) and the United Kingdom (35.02).

The newspaper considered on its website that between late deliveries and logistical boondoggles, France did not know how to manage its own vaccination campaign against Covid-19.

The newspaper quoted Antoine Flahaut, director of the Institute of Global Health at the University of Geneva, as saying that France should perhaps take inspiration from a country accustomed to organizing such campaigns like Morocco.

“Despite an arduous start due to the lack of doses, Morocco accelerated the pace qualitatively in February thanks to the smooth regulation. On March 9th, the country had administered 12.83 doses per 100 people, four points more than France. Morocco was able to rely, in particular, on its experience, knowing that in 2013 it supervised a large vaccination campaign against measles.”

According to Ouest France, “nothing is missing for France in its race against the clock to confront the virus”, as it “has become dependent on the mobilization of general medicine specialists and pharmacies.”

Prime Minister Jean Castex had promised that the government would “push forward” the vaccination campaign against Covid-19, seeking to avoid re-imposing quarantine in the country.

It is expected that the vaccination campaign will witness a strong boost, starting from mid-March, with the possibility of receiving vaccinations in pharmacies.
