Extremist Affiliated with So-Called ‘Islamic State’ Arrested in Dakhla
Morocco’s judicial police arrested on Tuesday an ISIS-affiliated extremist, according to the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ). Dakhla’s Judicial Police arrested on Tuesday an extremist affiliated with the terrorist organization known as the “Islamic State”, on the basis of information provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) announced.
This arrest forms part of intensive security operations aimed at countering and neutralizing the terrorist threat to the Kingdom’s security, the BCIJ adds in a statement.
According to preliminary findings of the investigation, the suspect (22 years old) expressed his intention to carry out terrorist plans aimed at seriously undermining public safety and public order, the same source notes.
This security operation led to seizing electronic devices and several bladed weapons of various sizes, as well as paramilitary uniforms.
The suspect has been taken into custody and transferred to the BCIJ to undergo a judicial investigation under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office in charge of terrorism cases, with the aim of uncovering all his extremist activities and determining his potential links to various terrorist organizations.
