Voter turnout reached 38.02% as polling closed nationwide and counting began across local and regional electoral districts.
Voter turnout in Morocco’s general legislative elections reached 38.02% nationwide, the Ministry of Interior announced Wednesday after polling stations closed across the Kingdom.
Voting for the election of members of the House of Representatives ended at 7 p.m., in line with the legally established closing time, according to the ministry.
The ministry said voting took place under normal conditions across all regions, apart from a few very isolated incidents involving a limited number of polling stations.
Immediately after polling closed, stations began counting and tallying votes in the presence of representatives of candidate lists. The process covers local electoral districts first, followed by regional electoral districts.
Once their work is completed, polling stations will send the official records of the electoral operations to central offices. Counting committees chaired by magistrates will then count the votes, proclaim the results and announce the elected candidates based on the official records.
