Côte d’Ivoire Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Sahara Sovereignty
Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire reaffirm strong diplomatic ties during talks in Rabat. Côte d’Ivoire reiterated its firm support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over all its territory, including the Sahara region.
The position was expressed in a joint communiqué issued after talks in Rabat between Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nialé Kaba.
Côte d’Ivoire also welcomed the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797 on October 31, 2025, which supports Morocco’s autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty as the basis for a political solution to the Sahara dispute.
Bourita thanked Côte d’Ivoire for its continued support, highlighting the opening of the country’s Consulate General in Laayoune in February 2020 as a sign of strong bilateral ties.
