Frontex: “Morocco embodies stability” — and the data backs it
The European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) has declared Morocco a pillar of stability in the Euro-Mediterranean region, crediting Rabat’s sustained border-security efforts and its fight against criminal networks with a significant decline in irregular arrivals to Europe via the West African route.
Frontex highlights Morocco’s role in regional stability
The assessment came as Frontex and Morocco’s Ministry of Interior concluded their fifth Joint Committee meeting, the core institutional framework of their strategic partnership. The session was used to review outcomes of joint operations, assess the current migration and border-security landscape, and set new milestones for future cooperation.
“Morocco embodies stability in the Euro-Mediterranean region, remains a key strategic partner of Frontex in promoting security and stability, as well as in combating all forms of transnational crime, particularly human trafficking and migrant smuggling.”. — Frontex statement
Frontex and Morocco reaffirm cooperation
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to integrated, rules-based, and humane border management and expressed their intention to deepen cooperation in the years ahead.
Frontex described the partnership — with the Joint Committee at its core — as grounded in continuous dialogue, open strategic exchanges, and the mutual sharing of operational expertise.
