Government Creates Committee to Monitor Prices and Protect Purchasing Power
Morocco’s government has decided to establish an interministerial committee to monitor price changes and help protect household purchasing power.
The decision followed a meeting chaired by Head of Government Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri in Rabat on November 3, 2026. The meeting focused on the national economic situation, price fluctuations and their impact on citizens’ daily lives.
During the meeting, El Mansouri said the government was aware of the financial pressure facing Moroccan households, particularly low-income families and the middle class.
She stressed that protecting purchasing power and maintaining social cohesion remain key government priorities.
Committee to track price changes
The new committee will bring together the government departments concerned with market prices and supplies. It will meet regularly to monitor price movements and identify measures to limit their impact on consumers.
The committee will pay particular attention to products that see higher demand during Ramadan.
The government also plans to introduce practical measures to ease the impact of rising prices on households. It aims to maintain the regular supply of essential goods in the national market.
The meeting was attended by the ministers of Interior; Economy, Finance and Public Administration; Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries and Food Sovereignty; Industry and Trade; and Transport and Logistics, as well as the Secretary-General of the Government.
The announcement comes as the government places renewed focus on the cost of living and the impact of market fluctuations on household budgets.
