King Mohammed VI on Edgar Morin: “He Will Never Be Forgotten”
King Mohammed VI honored the memory of French philosopher Edgar Morin in a message of condolences to his family. King Mohammed VI sent a message of condolences and compassion to the family of French philosopher and sociologist Edgar Morin, paying tribute to his intellectual legacy and longstanding ties to Morocco.
In the message, the King said He learned with deep emotion and sadness of Morin’s passing, describing him as “a towering figure of universal thought” and a humanist whose work offered “a bright and generous perspective on the complexity of the world”.
The Sovereign highlighted Morin’s deep attachment to Morocco, noting that he forged enduring friendships in the Kingdom and often praised its historical roots and civilizational values.
King Mohammed VI also recalled Morin’s participation in intellectual gatherings in Morocco and abroad, saying his influence and warm personality left a lasting mark on generations of thinkers and students.
“All those who had the honor of knowing him hold him in special esteem and affection, and they will never forget him”, the King said.
