Morocco Plans MAD 8.45 Billion Investment in Forestry Sector by 2029
Morocco’s National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) plans to invest MAD 8.45 billion in the forestry sector between 2027 and 2029.
The funding will support the implementation of the national “Forests of Morocco 2020-2030” strategy. The plan focuses on protecting forest land, restoring ecosystems and preserving biodiversity.
According to a press review published by H24Info with the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) on November 3, the investment programme will also support access to remote forest areas and encourage greater participation in forest management.
Investment expected to increase
The agency’s investment spending has followed an upward trend in recent years.
ANEF recorded MAD 816 million in investment spending in 2025. Its updated forecast for 2026 stands at MAD 940 million.
For 2027, the agency expects investment to exceed MAD 1 billion. The planned MAD 8.45 billion covers the full three-year period from 2027 to 2029.
Supporting the Forests of Morocco 2020-2030 strategy
The investment programme forms part of Morocco’s broader effort to improve forest management and protect natural resources.
The national strategy focuses on restoring damaged ecosystems, protecting biodiversity and securing forest land. It also seeks to improve access to remote forest areas and promote more inclusive management involving local communities.
Through these priorities, ANEF aims to strengthen the environmental and social role of forests while supporting the sustainable management of the country’s natural resources.
The planned investment comes as Morocco continues to advance its 2020-2030 forestry strategy, with the next three years expected to bring a larger investment effort from the agency.
