Morocco’s Upper House Receives German Bundestag Delegation
The Morocco-Germany parliamentary friendship group at the House of Councillors held a meeting on Thursday in Rabat with a delegation from the German federal parliament (Bundestag).
This meeting, which comes in the wake of the dynamic momentum injected into relations between Morocco and Germany, was an opportunity to examine ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, according to a press release from the House of Councillors.
In this regard, the chairman of the Morocco-Germany parliamentary friendship group at the House of Councillors, Abdellatif El Ansari, affirmed that this visit reflects the shared desire to elevate bilateral cooperation to higher levels, based on mutual trust and a convergence of views on issues of common interest.
In this vein, he emphasized the importance of accelerating the pace of implementation of joint projects, particularly in the renewable energy and green hydrogen sectors.
El Ansari also highlighted the central role played by the Moroccan community in Germany in consolidating human and cultural exchanges between the two countries and strengthening the dynamic of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Furthermore, he noted that Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is experiencing major progress thanks to structuring projects aimed at promoting regional connectivity and the attractiveness of the national economy, welcoming Germany’s position in support of the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty.
For her part, the president of the German parliamentary delegation, Mechthild Heil, praised the level of development achieved in the Kingdom in recent years, expressing her country’s desire to expand the areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy, migration, and skilled labor management sectors. She emphasized that Moroccan-German relations rest on solid foundations of respect and mutual trust.
These talks are part of the visit to the Kingdom by the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany, Johann Wadephul, and the accompanying German parliamentary delegation. This visit gives new impetus to the parliamentary cooperation process and strengthens coordination on issues of common interest.
