The Democratic Republic of the Congo has reported 447 Ebola-related deaths and 1,460 confirmed cases. The death toll from the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has risen to 447, with 1,460 confirmed cases recorded as of July 1, the country’s Ministry of Communication and Media said.
The ministry said on Thursday that confirmed infections increased by 54 cases over the previous 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 1,460.
WHO Warns of Regional Risk
In May, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and neighboring Uganda as an emergency posing a risk to other countries.
The U.N. health agency said it considers the regional risk of further spread to be high.
