Morocco Accounts for 10% of Russian Diesel Exports in 2026
Morocco accounted for around 10% of Russian diesel exports since the beginning of 2026, according to shipping data cited by Reuters, highlighting the country’s role in changing global fuel trade flows.
Turkey remained the largest destination, receiving approximately 34% of Russian diesel exports, while Brazil accounted for around 24%, according to data from commodities analytics firm Kpler.
The figures come as Russian diesel shipments resume following the easing of export restrictions. Moscow had introduced the restrictions to address domestic fuel shortages linked to disruptions at its refineries.
Russia partially lifted its diesel export ban in October, allowing supplies to return to international markets. Recent shipping data indicate that cargoes are again moving towards several destinations, including Turkey, Brazil and Morocco.
The renewed shipments come amid wider shifts in global energy trade, as sanctions, supply disruptions and changes in export policies continue to influence fuel flows.
However, the 10% figure represents Morocco’s share of Russian diesel exports, not the share of Russian fuel in Morocco’s total diesel imports. The available shipping data also do not establish the final use of every cargo or identify all Moroccan importers.
