One of the main activities was a workshop on cyberdiplomacy. The Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) and the General Directorate for Information Systems Security (DGSSI) organised the meeting. It brought together ambassadors from African countries based in Morocco.
Morocco Calls for Stronger African Cybersecurity Cooperation
During the workshop, AMCI Director General Mohamed Methqal stressed the value of cooperation between African countries. He said that sharing knowledge and skills can help the continent improve its digital security.
Methqal also described cybersecurity as a key issue for national sovereignty, economic stability and development. Therefore, he called for closer cooperation to build a safer and stronger African digital space.
To support these goals, the AMCI works with the DGSSI to share Morocco’s expertise. Their efforts include training programmes and networks for cybersecurity experts. As a result, partner countries can strengthen their ability to deal with digital threats.
Cyberdiplomacy Takes Centre Stage in Rabat
The workshop also gave African diplomats a chance to share their experiences. They discussed common security challenges and ways to improve cooperation. Participants welcomed the initiative and stressed the need for closer ties between African countries.
In addition, the discussions covered cyber threats and their impact on international relations. Participants also examined global cybersecurity standards and the protection of data.
Another key topic was how countries should respond to cyber crises. The workshop explored the role of diplomacy in managing these situations and improving cooperation between governments.
Building a Safer African Digital Space
The discussions highlighted the growing need for better cybersecurity across Africa. As countries expand their use of digital services, they must also improve their ability to protect systems and data.
For this reason, cooperation between the AMCI, the DGSSI and African partners remains important. By sharing knowledge and developing local skills, these efforts can help countries respond to cyber threats more effectively.
Overall, Morocco Cyber Security Week highlighted the role of cooperation in building a safer digital future for Africa. The workshop also supported calls for a shared approach to cybersecurity and digital development.
