Remittances from Moroccans residing abroad reached MAD 50.22 billion by the end of May 2026, according to Morocco's Foreign Exchange Office. Remittances sent by Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) reached MAD 50.22 billion by the end of May 2026, up from MAD 46.16 billion during the same period a year earlier, according to Morocco’s Foreign Exchange Office.
The transfers increased 8.8% year-on-year, the Office said in its latest monthly bulletin on foreign trade indicators.
Travel Balance Posts Nearly MAD 40 Billion Surplus
The bulletin also showed a positive travel balance of nearly MAD 40 billion, up 19.4% from a year earlier.
The surplus resulted from travel receipts rising 14.6% to MAD 53.76 billion, compared with a 2.7% increase in travel expenditures to MAD 13.77 billion.
