Royal Air Maroc May Soon Raise Ticket Prices, Sources Tell MT
Abdelhamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, as the airline weighs a fare hike driven by surging jet fuel costs. Royal Air Maroc may be forced to raise its airfares in the near future, exclusive sources told MoroccoTelegraph, as soaring jet fuel costs driven by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and surging oil prices amid the Iran conflict squeeze the airline’s operating margins. The timing of any increase, sources said, depends directly on how long the company’s current fuel reserves last — but a price hike is close to being implemented unless fuel prices fall back significantly.
The development comes as the Iran conflict continues to send shockwaves through global aviation. Flight cancellations have accelerated across Europe, with several major carriers now running down their fuel stockpiles — pushing them to cancel routes and raise fares sharply. The timing is particularly sensitive: the disruption is arriving just as the summer holiday season approaches, raising serious concerns about its impact on tourism.
A fare increase at Royal Air Maroc is close to being applied — unless fuel prices reverse course before the airline’s reserves run out.

Air France and KLM already moved
Royal Air Maroc is not alone. Air France and KLM have both confirmed fare increases linked to the conflict, raising average ticket prices by around 100 euros per flight — while simultaneously cancelling a significant number of routes due to the sharp rise in fuel costs. The two carriers join a growing list of airlines that have passed the burden of the fuel crisis directly onto passengers.
